Learning becomes fun when it appeals to the sense.

Helping kids to get into reading habits: My own experiments and experiences,

To encourage good reading habits in children we should serve as good example ourself. If the child finds us reading instead of being glued to television, he may also want to do the same.

Reading and being aware, are two factors which are like master cards that earn you success. Make sure that children observe elders reading regularly, it will reinforce the importance of reading.

Elders in the family should help the kids to feel that reading doesn't only happen at school it can happen anywhere and learners who read outside of school are more successful. Talking about the pictures in books, magazines, and newspapers with your child will attract them. It is important for your child to observe your efforts in acquiring reading abilities. Don't allow your kids to watch television until they have done their daily reading.

As the child becomes a better reader, talk about what he/she is reading. When the child finishes a new story or reading assignment, discuss the main ideas, new words and concepts, and the child's favorite section with them. This will help to strengthen the child's reading and comprehension skills.
Tips for the Kids:

BEFORE you READ Check it out, Think about what you know about the subject and Decide what you need to know.
WHILE you READ ask How does it connects to what you know and Does it make sense, what could you do
AFTER you READ React to what you've read, what you remember and Use what you've read.
